1-Where do you currently reside and work?  Currently I live and work in Ukraine, the city of Zaporozhye.

2-How would you describe Grigoriy Shkarupilo?  I am a director and cameraman of commercials and music videos. Photography is my hobby.

3-How did you start as a photographer?I started out as a cameraman, but this has a lot in common with photography.

4-Did you study photography, or is it self-taught?  Everything I know about photography, I taught from public sources, on my own.

5-Do you remember your first camera? What was it and how did you get it?  My first camera, it was a canon 550d that I bought while working at a factory.

6-How did you acquire your style of photography, minimalist?  I have acquired a minimalist style thanks to many artists whom I dubbed and still dubb to this day. These are guys like @huxsterized @moksva @cimkedi @drcuerda.

7-What has been your most challenging shoot to date, and why?  The most difficult shoot for me was my shoot based on the style of the movie “it”, which is based on the novel by Stephen King. It was hard to find the appropriate props as well as a large black wall in my city, also considering that the light should fall on it correctly. So when the shoot was a success, I was very happy about it!

8-Do you manipulate your photos using Photoshop?  I process each of my photos strictly on a PC, I use Lightroom for color processing, and for working with small details and perspective deformation I work in Photoshop.

9-As a photographer what would be your ideal subject or location to shoot?  The perfect place for me is a beautiful huge facade + bright summer sun giving sharp shadows.

10-What other types of art interests you?  Besides photography and video, I’m interested in music. I love classic works, in particular Chopin.

11-How do you define success?Success for me is when people like what you do.

12-Whose work do you admire?  I admire the work of @drcuerda and his wife @anniset, as well as @huxsterized and his wife @moksva

13-Do you have a place/person/thing that you visit for inspiration?Yes, Instagram 🙂
